SaaS refers to software that is provided by a host as a service over the Internet, as opposed to the traditional approach of customers purchasing the software and installing it on their computers. Some examples of how wikis can be used include a company's intranet, groupware, project management tools, corporate glossaries, knowledge pools, discussion forums and manuals. Probably the most famous wiki is the online encyclopedia Wikipedia.
